Opening this weekend is a comedy for generations.
Passion for Acting Theatre Company in collaboration with WILLow LeaVes of Hope presents “Over the River and Through the Woods”, written by Joe DiPietro, for a two-weekend run beginning 6 p.m. Friday at WILLow LeaVes of Hope, located at 326 Jackson St. in downtown Hope.
When Nick Cristano lands his dream job in Seattle, WA, he finds himself forced to choose between family and adventure.
A not-so-easy proposition for a single, Italian-American young man with a longing for making his own way but a heart firmly tethered in family – namely, for the annoying, but beloved, grandparents (two sets nonetheless) who he visits weekly.
With mind made up, he lays out his plans to leave for life on the West Coast – a decision to which the grandparents don’t take kindly and respond silently, “Challenge accepted.”
“How could he betray his family’s love? And move so far away? What’s wrong with him?,” they ask.
Dinner theatre-goers are invited out to share in this hilarious nearly two-hour long comedy filled with schemes and situations grandparents Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma conspire to make sure Nick stays put – In Jersey. With them. Where he belongs.
Michaela Fuller makes her directorial debut with this production starring Alex Baylor, Cheryl Baker, Paul Hoffman, J. Rob Taylor, Kimberly Smith and Connie Kiviniemi-Baylor – who is also directing.
Tickets for this dinner-theatre production are $40 per person and includes full meal and show.
