Game Report for Week 09/08: Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country & Soccer

Volleyball
@ Oldenburg Academy – Despite a slow start, the Hauser volleyball team battled hard before falling in straight sets to a tough Oldenburg squad, 12-25, 13-25, 21-25.

Hauser struggled to find rhythm in the opening two sets, but the Jets showed resilience in the third, pushing Oldenburg in a much tighter contest. Strong defensive efforts and improved communication highlighted their late-game surge.

Charleston, Leah Lead on Defense
Defensive play was a bright spot for Hauser, with Charleston and Leah each tallying 12 digs. Hayden added 11, helping to anchor the back row and keep the team in longer rallies.

Offensive Leaders
Regan and Leah each contributed 4 kills, while Charleston chipped in 3. Leah also led the team in assists with 11.

Tough at the Net
Charleston and Regan each recorded a solo block, showing grit at the net against a powerful Oldenburg attack.

v. Columbus Christian – The Hauser volleyball team delivered a commanding performance on their home court Thursday night, sweeping Columbus Christian 25-7, 25-11, 25-16. From start to finish, the Jets controlled the pace of the match with strong serving, aggressive net play, and solid defense.

Kaysie Sets the Tone from the Line
Kaysie was a force from the service line, racking up an impressive 11 aces. Hayden added 7 aces of her own, while Ruby chipped in with 2, helping Hauser build early leads in each set.

Balanced Offensive Attack
Charleston led the offensive charge with 9 kills, followed by Kaidenze with 4 and Hayden with 3. Leah directed the offense with 15 assists, and Madaline contributed 5 more as the Jets spread
the ball well throughout the night.

Strong at the Net
Charleston and Kaidenze each recorded a solo block and teamed up for a double block as well, shutting down Columbus Christian’s attempts to rally.

Solid Defensive Effort
Hauser’s back row stayed sharp, with Hayden picking up 7 digs, Regan adding 5, and Kaidenze contributing 3 to keep rallies alive and deny scoring opportunities.

Boys Tennis
@ Southwestern – Hauser wins over Southwestern 5-0

#1 singles James Oliver won 6-1, 6-1 over Caleb McDonald. #2 singles Joel Bechtel won 6-1, 6-1 over Kentley Gosser. #3 singles Graydon Kilps won 6-0, 6-1 over Andrew Pile. #1 doubles RJ Foster/Kameron Blair won 6-4, 6-1 over Kyle Beck & David Colton. #2 double Brady Miller/Curtis Kilps won 6-1, 6-0 over Ryder Scott/Liam Tsukuno. The boys moved to 5-1 on the year.

@ Indian Creek – The Hauser boy’s tennis team faced a strong Indian Creek squad on Thursday, falling 0-5 in a challenging match.

In singles play, James Oliver battled at No. 1 but came up short against Grayson Taylor, 0-6, 0-6. At No. 2, Joel Bechtel fought through long rallies but ultimately fell to Landon Hamilton, 1-6, 2- 6. Graydon Kilps showed resilience at No. 3 singles, pushing the second set to the wire before dropping a close 1-6, 5-7 match to Will Shobe.

In doubles action, the No. 1 duo of RJ Foster and Kameron Blair had a solid second set but couldn’t overcome Indian Creek’s momentum, falling 0-6, 3-6 to Grant Dalton and Mason Frische.

Though the Jets didn’t secure a win, the team gained valuable experience and showed growth, especially in tighter second sets. Hauser will look to bounce back in their next match as the season continues.

@ Shelbyville – The Hauser boy’s tennis team faced a tough test on the road Thursday, falling 0-5 to a strong Shelbyville squad.

In singles play, James Oliver dropped his #1 match to Reece Prickett 1-6, 0-6, while Joel Bechtel battled in the #2 spot but came up short against Kashton Laycock 2-6, 3-6. At #3 singles, Graydon Kilps fell to Bram Kolkmeier 1-6, 1-6.

Doubles play saw competitive efforts from the Jets, but they couldn’t break through. The #1 duo of RJ Foster and Kameron Blair lost 0-6, 3-6 to Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong. In the #2 doubles match, Brady Miller and Curtis Kilps pushed their opponents but ultimately fell 4-6, 3-6 to Aiden Alton and Jack Va-Wye.

The Jets will look to regroup as they prepare for upcoming conference play.

B/G Cross County
@ Columbus North Invite – The varsity cross country team competed in Columbus North’s Weinheimer Classic at Ceraland on Saturday. Hauser placed fourth out of seventeen schools in the “Class A” division.

Nolan Dailey finished twenty-sixth overall and fourth among Class A runners with a personal best time of 15:55.2. Jace Wright was 13th in the Class A division, running a new Hauser freshman record of 16:43.6. Max Moore placed 23rd (17:23.40), Mason Moore was 56th (18:43.8), Braydon McFarland took 66th (19:05.3), Grady Niccum 89th (20:21.2), and Mason Johnson 94th (20:42.2).

The Jets run next at the Whiteland Invitational this Saturday.

Girls Soccer
@ Knightstown – The Jets were defeated at Knightstown on Wednesday night 6-0. The Jets continue to improve and look to a busy week next week with three matches starting we Greensburg on Wednesday, and Trinity Lutheran on Thursday, while finishing the week off with University.

Boys Soccer
@ Trinity Lutheran – The Hauser Jets (5-1) came out strong and held off a determined Trinity Lutheran team to secure a 3-2-win Tuesday evening.

The Jets struck early, racing out to a 2-0 lead just six minutes into the match. However, Trinity Lutheran responded with two goals of their own before halftime, tying the match and shifting momentum.

The second half was filled with tense moments, close calls, and a few unlucky breaks, but Hauser stayed composed. With just eight minutes left on the clock, the Jets found their breakthrough. Nicholas Mann netted his second goal of the night to put Hauser ahead 3-2 — and this time, they didn’t let the lead slip away.

The Jets tightened up their defense and held off Trinity’s late pushes to seal the win.

Mann finished with two goals, while Phillipe Douce added the third. Camden Grimes was instrumental in the attack, assisting on all three goals with smart, well-placed passes that set the tone for Hauser’s offense.

Goalkeeper Austin Sanders came up big with five timely saves, keeping Hauser in control during the most crucial moments.

Man of the Match: The Offense
Rather than one individual, the Man of the Match honor went to the entire Hauser offensive unit, which kept steady pressure on Trinity’s defense and worked together seamlessly throughout the match.

The Jets return home Saturday morning for a 10 a.m. matchup against South Ripley. Fans are encouraged to come out and support what’s shaping up to be a strong Hauser squad.

v. South Ripley – The Hauser Jets (5-2) suffered a tough home loss today, falling 5-3 to South Ripley in a match where maintaining a lead proved elusive.

Despite a strong offensive showing, the Jets couldn’t keep South Ripley at bay. Phillipe Douce netted two goals, both coming off assists from Nicholas Mann, showcasing excellent chemistry between the duo. Camden Grimes added a third goal, finishing cleanly off a well-placed corner kick.

In goal, Austin Sanders recorded two saves, but South Ripley's relentless attack ultimately broke through. Defensively, Nate Barriger stood out with consistent play from the back, earning Man of the Match honors for his passing and positioning.

The Jets now shift their focus to conference play, traveling to Morristown on Tuesday to open their league campaign.
