Game Report for Week 09/15: Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country & Soccer

Volleyball
@ Morristown – The Hauser Jets volleyball team kicked off their conference season with an impressive straight- set victory over Morristown, winning 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 to move to 1-0 in conference play.

The Jets showcased a well-rounded performance on both offense and defense.

Serving was a key weapon, with Kaysie leading the way with 7 aces, followed by Kaidenze with 4 and Regan with 3.

On the attack, Regan and Charleston each tallied 8 kills, while Kaidenze added 5. The offense was effectively set up by Leah, who recorded an impressive 25 assists. Hope and Hayden each chipped in with 1 assist.

Defensively, Charleston notched 2 solo blocks and teamed up for a double block with Kaidenze. In the back row, Hayden led the team with 18 digs, Leah added 10, and Regan contributed 9.

Hauser will look to build on this strong start as they continue conference play.

v. Shelbyville – The Hauser volleyball team faced a tough challenge at home Tuesday night, falling to Shelbyville in straight sets: 17-25, 16-25, 10-25.

Despite the loss, several Jets players turned in strong individual performances. Kaidenze led the team from the service line with 4 aces, while Hayden added 2 and Kaysie chipped in 1.

Offensively, Charleston paced the team with 6 kills, followed closely by Kaidenze with 5 and Leah with 4. Leah also directed the offense efficiently, recording a team-high 16 assists. Regan and Hayden each contributed 3 assists.

At the net, the Jets registered several key blocks. Charleston and Hayden each tallied two double blocks, while Regan added a solo block.

Defensively, Regan led the back row with 10 digs, followed by Leah with 9 and Charleston with 8.

@ Borden – The Hauser volleyball team showed grit and determination in Tuesday night’s matchup against a tough Borden squad but ultimately fell in straight sets: 18-25, 16-25, 15-25.

Despite the loss, the Jets had several strong individual performances. Charleston led the offense with 8 kills and was a force at the net defensively with an impressive 7 solo blocks. Regan added 5 kills, 13 digs, and contributed on defense with both a solo and double block. Kaidenze chipped in with 4 kills, an ace, and an assist.

Leah paced the offense with 17 assists, setting up Hauser’s attack throughout the night.  Hayden anchored the back row with a team-high 16 digs, while Hope added 8.

At the service line, Kaysie recorded 2 aces, with Charleston and Kaidenze each adding one.

While the Jets couldn’t secure the win, their effort and teamwork were evident throughout the match. Hauser will look to bounce back in their next contest

Boys Tennis
@ Austin – The Hauser boy’s tennis team battled their way to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Austin, picking up key wins in singles and doubles play to secure the match.

At #1 singles, James Oliver put up a strong fight in the opening set but ultimately fell to Orlando Nease 6-7 (6-7), 2-6. Joel Bechtel delivered a steady performance at #2 singles, defeating Aven Broadus 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in straight sets. At #3 singles, Graydon Kilps pulled out a marathon match against Cameron Watts, winning 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 in a back-and-forth battle.

The decisive point came from the #1 doubles team of Kameron Blair and RJ Foster, who rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Cason Swank and Xander Richie 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), sealing the team win for Hauser.

#2 Doubles Brady Miller/Curtis Kilps lost over Isaiah Eversole/Kallen Boswell 7-5, 3-6, 2-6. With the victory, the Jets gain momentum heading into their next matchup as they continue to build confidence late in the season.

@ Triton Central – Triton Central earned a dominant 5-0 victory over Hauser in boys’ tennis action.

In singles play, Hauser’s James Oliver fell to Jansen Capps 0-6, 1-6 at No. 1 singles. Joel Bechtel battled at No. 2 but ultimately lost to Brayden Hoover 4-6, 3-6. At No. 3, Graydon Kilps dropped a close first set before falling to Bradyn Robinson 5-7, 0-6.

In doubles action, Kam Blair and RJ Foster lost to Max Crouse and Caleb Mcquire 4-6, 1-6 at No. 1 doubles. Brady Miller and Curtis Kilps were defeated 2-6, 1-6 by Drayton Kermode and Graham Gast at No. 2 doubles.

Hauser will look to regroup in their next match.

@ Edinburgh – The Hauser boys’ tennis team delivered a dominant performance against Edinburgh, claiming a 5-0 victory in their latest matchup.

In singles play, James Oliver led the charge at No. 1 singles, defeating Bailey Totten 6-1, 6-0. Joel Bechtel followed with a strong showing at No. 2 singles, taking down Raiden Stanley 6-1, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Graydon Kilps earned a hard-fought win over Braden Cox, 6-4, 6-4.

Hauser also swept the doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of RJ Foster and Kameron Blair cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jayson Music and Brinnyn Moss. At No. 2 doubles, Brady Miller and Curtis Kilps defeated Teddy Crawhorn and Charlie Roberts with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 scoreline.

With the victory, Hauser continues to show strong form as the season progresses.

@ Morristown – The Hauser Jets tennis team turned in a strong performance on the courts, defeating Morristown 4-1 in a solid team effort. The boys move to 9-3 on the year and 3-0 in the MHC.

In a tightly contested battle at #1 singles, James Oliver outlasted Dalton McMichael in two thrilling tiebreak sets, winning 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4).

Joel Bechtel delivered a dominant showing at #2 singles, cruising past Eli Graves 6-2, 6-1. Graydon Kilps followed suit at #3 singles, securing a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Gage Frey.

The #1 doubles team of Kameron Blair and RJ Foster continued their strong form, taking down Michael Ballinger and Mitchell Ronan 6-3, 6-1.

The Jets’ only loss came at #2 doubles, where Brady Miller and Curtis Kilps fell to Ruston Kleine and Braxton Lenning 2-6, 3-6.

With the win, Hauser adds another notch to its successful season.

B/G Cross County
@ Whiteland Invite – The high school and middle school cross country teams both competed in the Whiteland Invitational on Saturday.

The boys’ varsity team took third to Whiteland and New Palestine, led by a second-place finish by Nolan Dailey in 16:16.26. Jace White (17:22.41) and Max Moore (17:28.92) also had top-ten medalist finishes, coming in sixth and eighth. Mason Moore took 33rd with a time of 18:35.74, Braydon McFarland was 42nd (19:02.67), Grady Niccum was 72nd (21.21.10), Mason Johnson 94th (21:31.65), and Max Miller 122nd (254:13.30).

The middle school boys’ and girls’ teams both placed fifth. The boys were led by Matthew Moore in fifth and Nevin Noble in tenth, while the girls were led by Jaylee Maughan in third and Kendalyn Gernentz in eighth.

The varsity’s next meet will be Jennings County’s Ray Gerkin Invitational this Saturday, while the junior high will race in next Tuesday’s Central Chargers Classic

Girls Soccer
v. Greensburg – The girls were defeated in a good match 3-0 at home on Wednesday night. The girls continue to improve and look to finish the season strong. The girls travel to Trinity Lutheran on Thursday and University on Saturday to end a busy week.

@ Trinity Lutheran – Hauser edged past Trinity Lutheran in an exciting girls’ soccer match, coming away with a 3–2 victory.

Kennedy Konradi was the star of the show, scoring two goals to help propel the Jets. Liv Read added the third, rounding out the scoring for Hauser.

It was a close contest throughout, with Hauser doing just enough to hold off the challenge from Trinity Lutheran and earn the win.

@ University – The Hauser girls’ soccer team faced a tough challenge on the road Saturday, falling 5-0 to University. The loss drops the Jets to 2-7 on the season.

Despite the score line, the team continued to show effort and resilience throughout the match, battling against a skilled University squad.

The Lady Jets will look to regroup and bounce back in their next match on Tuesday, September 16, as they travel to face Indy Lutheran. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Boys Soccer
@ Morristown – The Jets (6-2) kicked off conference play on the road Tuesday night, traveling to Morristown for a pivotal matchup. After a tightly contested first half, the Jets found their rhythm and pulled away for a solid team victory.

Phillipe Douce led the offensive charge with two goals, while Nicholas Mann and Landon Pendleton each added a goal of their own. Mann also contributed two assists, matching teammate Koleson Gernentz, who helped set the pace in the attacking third.

In the midfield, Camden Grimes controlled the tempo of the game, dominating possession and creating opportunities. Defensively, Corbin Holzer anchored the back line with a flawless performance at center back, earning him Man of the Match honors. Goalkeeper Austin Sanders remained steady between the posts, collecting two saves to secure the win.

The Jets return home Thursday to face Triton Central. Varsity action kicks off at 5:30 p.m., with the team’s first JV half of the season immediately following the varsity match.

@ Triton Central – The Jets improved to 7-2 on the season after a hard-fought 4-3 win over 2A Triton Central. While it wasn’t their cleanest performance, the Jets did just enough to come out on top in a tightly contested match.

The first half saw a flurry of action, with both teams trading blows. Camden Grimes opened the scoring for the Jets off an assist from Nicholas Mann. Mann then found the back of the net himself, followed by a goal from Phillipe Douce to round out the first-half scoring for the Jets.

With the match tied up in the second half, it was Mann again who made the difference, scoring his second goal of the night midway through the half to give the Jets the edge.

In goal, Austin Sanders recorded two saves in the first half, while Luke Raisor added two more in the second to help preserve the win.

Nicholas Mann earned Man of the Match honors for his two-goal performance and key assist.

The Jets will be back in action on Saturday morning as they hit the road to take on Austin.

@ Austin –The Jets (8-2) traveled south on Monday to take on the Austin Eagles, battling not only their opponent but also a short-handed roster due to injuries. Despite an early defensive lapse that led to a quick goal by the Eagles, the Jets regrouped and responded in dominant fashion, cruising to a commanding 7-1 win.

Camden Grimes led the charge offensively with a standout performance, netting two goals and providing one assist. Austin Sanders matched Grimes with two goals of his own, while Phillipe Douce contributed a goal and an assist. Nick Mann and Ayden Stroup also found the back of the net to round out the scoring for the Jets.

Alex Conde added an assist, while goalkeeper Luke Raisor held down the defense with four solid saves.

Camden Grimes earned Man of the Match honors for his leadership and attacking impact.

Next up, the Jets will face conference rival Southwestern Shelby on Friday, September 19.

HOPE
