Mary “Maggie” Janes, 86, of Hope, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Our Hospice of Southcentral Indiana inpatient facility.
Born May 3, 1939 in Metcalf County, KY she was the daughter of Orea Jessee and Gertie Barnes Jessee. She married Jesse W. Janes June 29, 1957 and he preceded her in death September 13, 2002.
For over 20 years Maggie was employed at Clouse’s IGA. She then was employed at Cosco and retired from there after 10 years. In her retirement years she was employed in the cafeteria at Flat Rock Haw Creek School Cooperation for 15 years.
Maggie attended First Baptist Church of Hartsville.
She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and especially spending time with her family.
Maggie is survived by children, Teresa (Ronnie) Froedge of Columbus and Jeff (Tammy) Janes of Hope; grandchildren, Jesse (Heather) Bernard of Marietta, GA, Stacy York of Hope, Amanda (Erica) Foist of Hope, Hannah (Brad) Smith of Franklin, Ethan (Grace Dillow) Janes of Beech Grove, Brianna (Craig) Dulworth of Whiteland, Todd (Alicia) Froedge of Seymour, Tonya (Sam) Ruf of Greensburg, Courtland (Chayla) Robertson of Westport and Ashley (James) Sachleben of Columbus; 21 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Maggie’s funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home. It will be officiated by Tim Dillingham. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Haw Creek Church Community Cemetery.
