Volleyball
v. Seymour – Hauser Falls to Seymour in Non-Conference Match
The Hauser volleyball team faced a tough test against a strong Seymour squad on Monday night, falling in straight sets: 13-25, 16-25, 7-25.
Despite the loss, the Jets had several players step up in key moments. Leah led the team from the service line with 2 aces, while Hayden added one. Offensively, Charleston recorded 2 kills, with Hayden and Hope each adding one. In setting duties, Leah also tallied 2 assists, while Regan and Hope chipped in with one apiece.
At the net, Charleston and Peyton teamed up for a double block, providing a defensive highlight in the second set. Defensively, Regan anchored the back row with 10 digs, followed by Hayden with 7 and Hope with 4.
v. Brown County – Hauser Battles Hard in Four-Set Loss to Brown County
The Hauser volleyball team showed grit and determination in a competitive match against Brown County on Monday night but ultimately came up short, falling in four hard-fought sets: 26-28, 25-22, 21-25, 15-25.
The Jets came out strong, narrowly dropping the first set in extra points before bouncing back to take the second. Despite the momentum shift, Brown County edged out the final two sets to seal the win.
Kaysie led at the service line with 4 aces, while Hayden and Kaidenze each added 3 aces of their own.
Offensively, Charleston paced the attack with 13 kills, followed by Kaidenze with 6 and Peyton with 3. Leah ran the offense efficiently, dishing out 19 assists, with support from Hayden (3) and Kaidenze (1).
At the net, Charleston contributed 1 solo block and 2 doubles, while Kaidenze added 1 solo and 1 double, and Kaysie joined in on a double block.
Defensively, the Jets were led by Charleston’s 22 digs, Hope with 19, and Hayden with 15, keeping the team in the match with strong back-row play.
@ South Decatur – Hauser Battles South Decatur, Falls in Four Sets
The Hauser Jets volleyball team went toe-to-toe with South Decatur on Thursday night in a hard- fought match, ultimately falling in four close sets: 16-25, 25-18, 21-25, 23-25.
After dropping the first set, the Jets bounced back with a dominant second-set win to even the
match. The final two sets were tightly contested, but South Decatur managed to edge out Hauser in both to seal the victory.
At the service line, Kaysie and Kaidenze each recorded 3 aces, while Hope added 1. Offensively, Hayden led the team with 11 kills, followed by Kaidenze with 9, and Charleston with 7. Leah continued to pace the offense with an impressive 33 assists.
Defensively, Charleston recorded 2 solo blocks, while Kaidenze added 1 solo and 1 double block. Peyton also contributed to the net defense with a double block.
In the back row, Hayden anchored the defense with 26 digs, followed by Charleston (20) and Kaidenze (18), helping keep the Jets competitive in every set.
Despite the loss, Hauser’s hustle and intensity were evident throughout the match, showing growth and resilience as they continue their season.
Boys Tennis
@ Edinburgh – Hauser Tennis Tops Edinburgh 4-1
The Hauser boys’ tennis team secured a solid 4-1 victory over Edinburgh on Monday evening, showcasing strong performances across the board.
At #1 singles, Joel Bechtel battled through a tight three-set match but came up short against Bailey Totten, falling 6-2, 4-6, 7-10. The Jets swept the remaining matches, starting with #2 singles, where Kameron Blair dominated Raiden Stanley 6-2, 6-0. At #3 singles, RJ Foster fought through a back-and-forth match to defeat Braden Cox 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 in a super tiebreak.
In doubles play, the #1 duo of James Oliver and Jackson York earned a straight-sets win over Brinnyn Moss and Jayden Castillo, 6-2, 6-4. The #2 doubles team of Brady Miller and Jacob Bell closed out the team victory with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over Jayson Music and Charlie Roberts.
The Jets continue to build momentum as they head into the back half of the season.
@ Waldron – Hauser Tennis Falls to Waldron
The Hauser boys’ tennis team faced a tough challenge against a strong Waldron squad on Monday, falling 5-0 in the conference championship matchup. The Jets will finish second in the MHC at 3-1.
In #1 singles, James Oliver was defeated by Charlie Fischer 1-6, 1-6. Joel Bechtel battled at #2 singles, showing resilience in the second set before falling to Cash Young, 2-6, 4-6. At #3 singles, Graydon Kilps came up short against Lincoln Fischer, 0-6, 0-6.
In doubles play, the #1 team of RJ Foster and Kameron Blair dropped a competitive first set but ultimately fell to Jackson Kuhn and Caige Schaefer, 4-6, 0-6. The #2 doubles duo of Jacob Bell and Brady Miller lost to Noah Mitchell and Connor Ping, 1-6, 2-6.
@ Trinity Lutheran – Hauser Tennis Battles but Falls to Trinity Lutheran, 0-5
The Hauser boys’ tennis team put up a strong fight on Thursday night but came up short against a solid Trinity Lutheran squad, falling 0-5 in a competitive match.
At #1 singles, James Oliver battled through two tight sets before falling to Daniel Naewedde, 5- 7, 4-6. In #2 singles, Joel Bechtel won a grueling first set in a tiebreak, 7-6, but was forced to resign the match, giving the win to Zach Lister of Trinity.
Graydon Kilps also put up a tough fight at #3 singles, dropping a close match to Adam Alberring, 4-6, 5-7.
In doubles action, the #1 team of Kameron Blair and RJ Foster started strong but couldn’t maintain momentum, falling to Jonathon Naewedde and Reed Roeder, 4-6, 0-6. The #2 doubles pairing of Jacob Bell and Brady Miller also played a tight first set but came up short against Luke Shepman and Ross Bevers, 4-6, 2-6.
Though the Jets were unable to secure a win, several matches were closely contested, showing continued growth and competitiveness from the squad.
@ MHC Tournament – The boys’ tennis team put together a solid performance at the MHC Tournament, bringing home multiple top finishes across singles and doubles competition.
In 1 Singles, James Oliver battled through a tough draw to earn 3rd place, showing resilience and skill in key matches. Joel Bechtel also claimed 3rd place in 2 Singles, while Graydon Kilps secured a 4th place finish in 3 Singles, contributing valuable points to the team total.
On the doubles side, the 1 Doubles team of Kameron Blair and RJ Foster delivered one of the standout performances of the tournament, finishing as runners-up and taking home 2nd place honors. Kameron and RJ were named to the All-Conference Team. The 2 Doubles duo of Brady Miller and Jacob Bell added to the team’s success with a 3rd place finish.
B/G Cross County
@ Ray Gerkin Invite – Senior Nolan Dailey took first place at Jennings County’s Ray Gerkin Invitational, held at Muscatatuck County Park.
Hauser finished fourth as a team to sectional rivals Seymour, Jennings County, and Columbus East, coming in just two points behind the Olympians.
Dailey cruised to the win with a finishing time of 16:25.70 for the 5K course. Jace Wright cracked a top-ten finish, coming in ninth at 17:03.22. Max Moore took 17th in 17:45.06, while Mason Moore was 29th (18:41.20) and Braydon McFarland 33rd (18:51.92). Grady Niccum placed 50th (20:27.63), Mason Johnson finished 59th (21:13.16), and Max Miller was 79th, improving his personal best to 25:09.57.
The high school team travels to South Ripley Thursday evening for the Great Pumpkin Invitational, then will host the Heritage Days Cross County Classic this Saturday.
Girls Soccer
@ Indy Lutheran – The girls’ soccer team traveled to Indy Lutheran on Tuesday night. The girls competed hard but was defeated. The Jets will host Columbus East on Thursday with soccer starting at 6 p.m.
v. Columbus East – The Hauser girls’ soccer team faced a tough test Thursday night, falling 0-4 to a strong Columbus East squad in non-conference play.
Despite the loss, the Jets continued to show effort and determination throughout the match, battling against a fast-paced and skilled East attack. Hauser’s defense held strong in stretches, but Columbus East capitalized on key opportunities to pull away.
The Jets will look to regroup and bounce back in their next matchup as they continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
Boys Soccer
@ Southwestern – Tough OT Loss for Boys’ Soccer Against Rival Southwestern
In a hard-fought rivalry match, the boys' soccer team came up short in overtime, falling 3-0 to Southwestern in a game that was much closer than the final score suggests.
The match remained deadlocked through regulation, with both teams battling intensely and trading chances. Solid defensive play and key saves on both sides kept the game scoreless at the end of 80 minutes, pushing it into overtime.
Unfortunately for the Jets, momentum swung quickly in the extra period. Southwestern capitalized on a defensive miscue early in OT to break the tie, and added two more quick goals before the final whistle, sealing a 3-0 win.
Despite the loss, the boys showed grit and determination throughout regulation, especially in holding off several strong Southwestern attacks. The result is a tough pill to swallow, but it also highlights the team’s potential moving forward in conference play.
The rivalry matchup may not have ended in the Jets favor, but the squad will look to bounce back stronger in their next outing.
