v. Mooresville Christian
Allie Zapfe collected three hits in three at bats, as the Hauser Jets defeated Mooresville Christian Eagles 17-3 on Thursday at Hauser Jr./Sr. High School. Zapfe doubled in the third inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning.
The Jets won thanks in part to nine runs in the third inning. Kinley Krise singled, scoring one run, Cheyanne Moody grounded out, scoring one run, Ollyvea Fiesbeck singled, scoring one run, Addy Crowder drew a walk, scoring one run, Zapfe doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, and Moody singled, scoring one run.
Hauser flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on seven hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Kaitlyn Robinson on an 0-2 count that drove in two.
Krise earned the win for Hauser. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out four and walking none. B Hinchman took the loss for the Eagles.
The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, giving up 11 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits, striking out none and walking two. Fiesbeck collected the save.
The Jets piled up 17 hits in the game. Amy Engel drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hauser with three runs batted in. The right fielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Zapfe and Moody each collected three hits for Hauser. Lexie Hamilton, Krise, and Fiesbeck each collected multiple hits for the Jets. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
Hayden Comer, Moody, Krise, Engel, and Fiesbeck each stole multiple bases for the Jets. Hauser also stole 12 bases in the game.
The Jets moved to 1-1 on the year and will travel to Rising Sun on Monday for a 6 p.m. start.

The Hauser boys golf team competed in a multi-team match on Saturday at Timbergate, finishing with a team score of 396.
Leading the way for Hauser was Bill Miller with a round of 85. Kash Baker followed with a 90, while Keegan Humphrey added a 107. Gavin Bain carded a 114, and Dane Richards rounded out the scoring with a 122. As a team, Hauser’s total of 396 placed them third in the meet. North Decatur claimed the top spot with a 369, followed by Southwestern with a 382. Edinburgh finished just behind Hauser with a 402. The Jets will look to build on their performance in their next outing.
