In Walk-Off, Hauser Varsity Jets Lose to Rising Sun Varsity Shiners
The Hauser Jets fell to Rising Sun Shiners 6-5 on Monday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when Emily Oatman singled, scoring one run.
Hauser lost despite out-hitting Rising Sun 10 to 9 on the night. Kaitlyn Robinson led Hauser with three hits. Rising Sun were the first to get on the board in the first when Ryan Works singled, scoring one run. Hauser made the score 3-1 in the top of the third after Amy Engel doubled, scoring one run, and Ollyvea Fiesbeck singled, scoring two runs. Rising Sun tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to an error, and a single by Avery Elliott. Rising Sun took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Lily Courtney doubled to center field, and Works flew out, each scoring one run. The Jets tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Engel, and a ground out by Fiesbeck.
Elliott earned the win for Rising Sun surrendering 10 hits and five runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. Kinley Krise took the loss for Hauser going four and one-third innings, giving up three runs on six hits, striking out none and walking two. Fiesbeck started the game. The starter allowed three hits and three runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking three. Hauser amassed 10 hits in the game. Fiesbeck went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Engel collected two hits in three at bats.
Hauser will travel to Edinburgh for their next game on Thursday.
Strong Hitting Not Enough as Hauser Jets Falls to Edinburgh Lancers
Hauser fell 13-11 to Edinburgh on Thursday despite out-hitting them 17 to 11. Kinley Krise and Karlieann Brooks each collected three hits for Hauser. Hauser was right in it until Edinburgh hit a home run to center field in the fifth inning. Kaitlyn Robinson’s tripled, scoring one run in the first got the Jets going. Adalyn Ramey grounded out, which helped Edinburgh tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. Edinburgh made the score 5-1 in the bottom of the third after Kenna Streeval doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Eloise Cox doubled, scoring one run. Hauser flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring eight runs on eight hits to take the lead, 9-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Brooks that drove in two. Streeval hit a grand slam on a 3-0 count, which helped Edinburgh tie the game at nine in the bottom of the fourth.
Hauser took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Krise doubled to right field, and Brooks singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Edinburgh made the score 13-11 in the bottom of the fifth after Elizabeth Hernandez singled, scoring one run, and Streeval homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Streeval earned the win for Edinburgh. The starter allowed 17 hits and 11 runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Krise took the loss. The hurler went one and one- third innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Brooks started the game for Hauser. The starter surrendered nine hits and 11 runs (seven earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking two.
The Hauser Jets collected 17 hits in the game. Brooks went 3-for-5 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Cheyanne Moody, Lexie Hamilton, Addy Crowder, and Amy Engel each collected multiple hits for the Jets. Hauser turned two double plays in the game.
Hauser will host on Friday against Edinburgh in their next game.
Late Score Costs Hauser after Late Charge from Edinburgh
Friday’s game against the Edinburgh Lancers was a heartbreaker for the Hauser Jets, as they lost the lead late in a 6-5 defeat at Hauser. The game was tied at five in the top of the seventh when Gracie Barrett laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.
Edinburgh got on the board in the first inning after Adalyn Ramey singled, scoring two runs. Edinburgh added one run in the second. Chloe Hancock singled to center field, making the score 3-1. Hayden Comer singled on an 0-2 count, which helped Hauser tie the game at three in the bottom of the third. Hauser took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a Ollyvea Fiesbeck singled, scoring one run, to give Hauser the edge, 4-3. Edinburgh captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth after Ramey tripled down the right field line, and Eloise Cox singled to center field, each scoring one run. Kinley Krise singled down the right field line, which helped Hauser tie the game at five in the bottom of the sixth.
Kenna Streeval earned the win for Edinburgh. The righty surrendered eight hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Krise took the loss for Hauser. The righty went seven innings, giving up six runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking three.
Comer and Krise each collected two hits for Hauser. Comer, Lexie Hamilton, Krise, and Fiesbeck each drove in one run for the Jets.
Next up for Hauser is a game at Columbus East Olympian on Monday.
Track and Field
Boys Second, Girls Third at Eastern Hancock Tri
The high school track and field team competed against Eastern Hancock and Morristown on Tuesday.
The boys’ team was led by the distance squad, with Nolan Dailey (4:39.6), Max Moore (5:01.5), and Jace Wright (5:04.6) taking first through third in the 1600-meter run and Dailey (10:01.0) and Moore (11:08.0) going one-two in the 3200.
The 4 x 400 relay team of Koleson Gernentz, Mason Johnson, Aiden Bense, and Braydon McFarland won with a time of 3:53.0. Gernentz also placed first in the 800 (2:17.3), while McFarland took the 200-meter dash (23.6).
Addyson Russell was the Lady Jets’ leading scorer, with triple victories in the 100-meter dash (12.9), 200-meter dash (27.3), and long jump (14’ 1”).
Peyton Norris took first place in shot put (30' 6.5") and fourth in discus (71’ 1”).

Varsity Track Third at Waldron Invite
The boys’ and girls’ varsity track team both finished in third place at Saturday’s Waldron Mohawk Invitational.
Addyson Russell led the girl’s team with firsts in long jump (14’ 11.25”) and the 200- meter dash (26.48) and a second in the 100-meter dash (13.34). Abigayle Trotter
placed second in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:55.63.
The boys’ team had an especially successful day in the relays. Koleson Gernentz, Jace Wright, Max Moore, and Nolan Dailey opened the meet with a win in the 4 x 800, coming in at 8:55.70. The 4 x 100 team of Curtis Kilps, Max Miller, Corbin Holzer, and Braydon McFarland took a close third with a time of 46.01. Gernentz, Dailey, Bense, and McFarland closed the meet with a hard-fought victory in the 4 x 400 relay, edging out Switzerland County with a time of 3:40.47. All three relay teams’ times represent top-ten performances in Hauser program history.
Baseball
Hauser Varsity Jets Roll Past Indy Genesis, 16-0
The Hauser Varsity Jets delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, shutting out Indy Genesis 16-0 in a game that was never in doubt.
Hauser wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning before exploding for eight more in the second to take firm control. The Jets continued to apply pressure with four runs in the third and two more in the fourth, ending the game early.
Offensively, Hauser was firing on all cylinders, racking up 15 hits. S. Gill led the charge with a big night at the plate, collecting four hits and driving in three runs. K. Blair also had a standout
performance, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while contributing to the team’s extra-base hit total. J. Sargent added a triple, and multiple players chipped in with doubles as the lineup stayed productive from top to bottom.
R. Foster set the tone at the top of the order, scoring four runs and reaching base consistently.
On the mound, J. Oliver had a strong outing, limiting Indy Genesis to just three hits while striking out eight and allowing no runs. The defense backed them up despite a few miscues, holding Indy scoreless across five innings.
Hauser Varsity Explodes for 27 Runs in Rout of Edinburgh
The Hauser Varsity Jets delivered an offensive showcase on Thursday, April 9, rolling past the Edinburgh Lancers 27–2 in a dominant road victory.
Hauser wasted no time setting the tone, plating runs in each of the first four innings. After a modest start in the first, the Jets broke things open with a three-run second inning before erupting for 14 runs in the third. They added nine more in the fourth to put the game well out of reach.
The Jets finished with 27 runs on 13 hits, taking advantage of 16 walks and several Edinburgh errors. Their patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning kept constant pressure on the Lancers’ defense.
Leading the offensive charge was S. Gill, who drove in three runs and collected multiple hits. K. Blair also had a big day, tallying four hits and three RBIs. J. Sargent contributed in a big way as well, scoring four runs and driving in four. R. Sessions crossed the plate five times and added two RBIs, while R. Foster added a triple and multiple RBIs.
Hauser showed power throughout the lineup, with extra-base hits coming from multiple players including triples by Foster and Schoettmer and doubles from Sessions, Sargent, Gill, and Blair.
On the mound, S. Myers helped keep Edinburgh in check, as the Jets limited the Lancers to just two runs on two hits. Hauser’s defense backed up the pitching effort despite a couple of miscues.
Edinburgh struggled to generate offense, with their only extra-base hit coming from S. Cooney, who recorded two doubles. The Lancers were also hampered by 10 strikeouts and seven defensive errors.
Boys’ Golf
Jets Fall to Eagles Despite Baker’s Medalist Honors
The Hauser Jets boys golf team competed against the Brown County Eagles in Thursday night’s match, falling 188–199 in a competitive outing.
Leading the way for Hauser was Kash Baker, who earned medalist honors with an impressive round of 40. Baker’s performance stood out as the low score of the match and highlighted a strong individual effort for the Jets. Bill Miller followed with a solid 46, while Keegan Humphrey added a 56. Gavin Bain carded a 57, and Dane Richards rounded out the scoring with a 66 to complete the team total of 199.
Additional rounds for Hauser included Camden Grimes with a 64, Owen Linke with a 72, and Kevin Julian with a 66.
Hauser will look to build on Baker’s strong performance and tighten up scoring depth as they prepare for their next match.
Girls’ Tennis
Hauser Girls’ Tennis Wins the Steve Makurat Invitational at Brown County
The Hauser Girls’ Tennis Team traveled to Brown County to play in the Steve Makurat Invitational on Saturday Morning. The team defeated Southwestern and then defeated the host Brown County to win the invite 2-0.
