Varsity Track Boys First, Girls Second at Jac-Cen-Del
Hauser’s high school boys team took first place in a four-way meet hosted by Jac-Cen-Del on Tuesday, while the girls team finished a close second to South Ripley.
The boys team showed a balanced scoring effort, with six different athletes taking first place in six individual events: Braydon McFarland in the 200 (23.1), Aiden Bense in the 400 (56.9), Koleson Gernentz in the 800 (2:10.0), Max Moore in the 1600 (5:11.0), Nolan Dailey in the 3200 (10:53.5), and Max Miller in the long jump (18’ 3”).
The Jets made a sweep of all three relays, winning the 4 x 800 (Gernentz, Wright, Moore, Dailey; 9:19.6), the 4 x 100 (C. Kilps, Miller, Holzer, McFarland; 46.3), and the 4 x 400 (Pendleton, Moore, Johnson, Bense; 3:53.4).
Hauser’s girls team had first-place finishes in ten of the meet’s fifteen events.
Addyson Russell took first in the 200-meter dash (25.8) and long jump (15’ 7”). Kennedy Konradi won the 400 with a personal best of 1:07.9 and tied for first in high jump with an effort of 4’4”. Abigayle Trotter won the 800 (2:57.0), Addison Dailey took the 100 hurdles (18.5), and Peyton Norris claimed first in shot put (31’ 7”).
Trotter, Haddouche-Mezarri, Shoaf, and Konradi opened the meet with a win in the 4 x 800- meter relay (12:19.0), while Dailey, Konradi, Trotter, and Shoaf finished the evening with a win in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:50.9).
Jets Shine in Distance and Sprint Showcases
Hauser athletes were represented in two separate showcase meets on Friday night.
At Franklin Central’s Distance Showcase, Nolan Dailey improved his 1600-meter personal best to 4:26.50 on the way to a Hauser program record of 4:28.00 in the mile run.
Addyson Russell competed against top sprint talent at Lafayette Jefferson’s Broncho’s Sprinters Showcase, running13.56 in the 100-meter dash and 28.48 in the 200-meter dash.
Baseball
North Decatur Edges Hauser in 10–9 Thriller
The Hauser Varsity Jets came up just short in a back-and-forth battle on the road, falling 10–9 to North Decatur on Thursday.
Hauser jumped out early, scoring in the first inning and adding three more in the third to build momentum. The Jets stayed aggressive at the plate, collecting 12 hits on the night, but couldn’t hold off a late push from North Decatur.
North Decatur answered in the middle innings, plating five runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to take control. Despite a strong offensive showing, Hauser couldn’t recover in the final frame.
Offensively, Hauser was led by a balanced attack. K. Blair had a big day, going 3-for-3 with multiple runs scored. S. Gill and J. Oliver each added two hits, while S. Myers drove in two runs. J. Sargent also chipped in with a pair of hits and scored twice.
On the mound, S. Myers started and struck out seven over 4.1 innings. J. Oliver took the loss after pitching in relief.
North Decatur was powered by M. Fields, who had a standout performance with three hits and three RBIs. H. Kinker also contributed three hits and three RBIs to lead their offense.
Hauser finished with 9 runs on 12 hits, while North Decatur totaled 10 runs on 11 hits in the tightly contested matchup.
Hauser Defeats North Decatur in Game 2
Hauser rolled to a 7-1 victory behind a dominant performance on the mound from Gill. He was nearly untouchable, tossing 7 innings while allowing just 2 hits and 1 run, and racking up an impressive 17 strikeouts.
At the plate, the offense backed him up with a strong showing. Foster, Blair, and Hunter each collected 2 hits, helping fuel the team’s scoring throughout the game.
With a combination of overpowering pitching and consistent hitting, Hauser controlled the game from start to finish in the win.
