Amy Celeste Coombs-Hood, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. Amy was born in Columbus, IN on November 3, 1972 to William Deryl “Bud” Coombs and Asenath Jewell Coombs.
Amy was a 1991 graduate of Hauser High School, and she continued to pursue learning throughout her life. In 2020, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Colorado Technical University, a milestone that reflected her determination, perseverance, and commitment to personal growth. Her educational achievements stood as a testament to her belief in the importance of hard work and lifelong learning.
In her professional life, Amy was currently employed at Cummins Engine Company, where she was respected for her dedication and reliability. She approached her work with responsibility and integrity, and she took pride in being part of an organization that valued excellence and teamwork.
Amy was also a devoted member of First Church of the Nazarene. Her faith was central to her life, and she loved the Lord deeply. She knew where she was going, and that assurance gave her peace and purpose. Her spiritual life was a source of strength, and it guided the way she lived, loved, and served others.
Outside of work and church, Amy found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. She was an avid reader who enjoyed the quiet comfort of a good book. She also loved crafting, where her creativity and patience came together in beautiful ways. Traveling brought her happiness as well, and she appreciated the opportunity to see new places and experience the world beyond her own. These interests reflected her curious mind, her creative spirit, and her appreciation for life’s many gifts.
Amy will be remembered for her faith, her kindness, and her steadfast character. She lived with sincerity and grace, and she left behind memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a reflection of devotion to God, commitment to her work, and love for the people and experiences that brought her joy.
A memorial service was conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2026 at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Jeff Luedtke and Pastor Travis Stamper officiating. Calling hours were from 4 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Bethel Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deeper Walk International; Come and See Foundation or Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana through the funeral home.
Survivors include her mother, Asenath Coombs; son, William G. Hood; daughters, Melody Hope and Harmony Faith Hood; brothers, Scott W. Coombs, Don D. (Lisa) Coombs and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, Bud Coombs and a niece, Kelsey Dale Coombs.
