Cheryl D. Henderson, 82, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at The Belmont Health and Rehabilitation.
Born on September 1, 1943 in Columbus, Cheryl was the daughter of Francis M. and Wyvonne A. Oliver Loper. She married Dean A. Henderson on November 22, 1964.
Before retirement, Cheryl was employed as a supervisor at Sears. She was a member of Newbern United Methodist Church and involved in United Methodist Women's group. In her younger years, she was a member of Rainbow Girls Organization.
Cheryl was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed crocheting, reading, and square dancing. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dean; children, Erin (Eric) Yount of Columbus and Audra Rhoades of Hope; grandchildren, Vance H. Yount of Colorado Springs, Cheryl "Libby" (Jacob) Wallace of Evansville, Hal Andrew Bellamy Jones of Evansville, Dalton J. Chambers of Pennsylvania, and Alayna D. Rhoades of Hope; great-grandchildren, Israel Wallace, Thomas Jones and Irelia Jones, all of Evansville; brother, Richard "Rick" (Deb) Loper of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Virgil (Butch) Loper.
Following Cheryl's wishes, cremation is planned.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13 at 7 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Snodgrass officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Bear Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Newbern United Methodist Church.
