Helen Irene (Andrews) Wallace, 96, Columbus

Helen Irene (Andrews) Wallace, 96, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana inpatient facility surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 6, 1929, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Ora and Jenne Mabel Andrews- Lewellen. She was a graduate of Saint Louis Crossing Elementary School and a 1946 graduate of Clifford High School. On March 3, 1951, she married Rev. Norman Wallace.

Together they had four children and were married 68 years until Norman's death on December 14, 2019.

Her life and marriage to Norman took them all over the state of Indiana in their ministry, touching many lives and helping many people. She taught Sunday school, children's church and volunteered helping people in various ways. Her dream was to be a teacher. Although she never realized it professionally, she achieved that dream in other ways over the course of her lifetime.

Helen had many different hobbies including crocheting, quilting, embroidering baby blankets, reading and countless jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of Eastern Star and East Columbus Christian Church. Helen was also known for her never-fail cookies, whirly, and her noodles.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Martin Ray Wallace; daughter, Sheila Ann Lambertson; and siblings, Howard, James, Homer Dale " Hink Andrews, Julia Cook and Lenora Hull.

Survivors include her loving children, Brent (Linda) Wallace, and Amber (Doug) Fleming; and a sister Maxine Bumbalough. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Joe Wayne Russell, Rayna Russell, Joshua Wallace, Benjamin (Beverly) Wallace, Jenne Wallace, Jacob Wallace, David Wallace, Noel (Jordan) Stidham, Holly (Cole) Williamson, and Tiffany (Jacob) Canine; 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Norman Funeral Home with Bishop David C. Bosley officiating. Due to the impact from the winter storm, the day of Helen's burial is pending at Freedom Cemetery in Waveland, IN.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Helen's name are suggested to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Heart Association.
