David LeRoy Galbraith, 81, of Greenwood, Indiana, died on July 5, 2026. The son of Roy Alfred and Clara Elizabeth (Engelman) Galbraith, he was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on July 29, 1944.
Dave graduated from Harry E. Wood high school in 1963 and attended Butler University for one semester on a music scholarship before enlisting in the Navy. He spent three years at Great Lakes and one year at Camp Pendleton serving as a hospital corpsman attached to the Marine Corp.
Following his honorable discharge, Dave returned to Indiana where he served on the Indianapolis Police Department and later worked with his father at Roy A. Galbraith and Associates.
He loved to sing and became involved with barbershop choruses and quartets. The Best of Friends quartet became like family to Dave. He directed the Chordlighters chorus for many years and during that time accepted a position as choir director at Greenwood United Methodist Church. It was here that he began to feel a call to ministry.
In 1995, he became a full-time minister serving and witnessing faithfully until his death. Churches served: Otisco charge UMC, Hope UMC, Park Place UMC, Connersville First UMC, Mt. Comfort UMC, Waldron UMC (now Waldron Church of the Risen Christ) and Mt. Lebanon Community Church (Global Methodist).
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Myrna (Jones) Galbraith, daughter Terri Strode and children Morgan and Myles; son Roy Galbraith (Colleen) and children Emily and Venon; son Ryan Galbraith (Amber) and children Luke, Sam, Jake and Lucy; son Ian Brown and children Lillian and Ethan and grandsons David York and James York. Also surviving are his sister Carol Jean (Galbraith) Romine and her family; sister-in-law Krista Jones, brother-in-law Allen (Linda) Jones and family; Best of Friends Art (Gayle) Atkinson, Steve (Judy) Jordan and Sandra McPhee.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Victoria Hodson and his adopted son Larry Hodson, his in-laws Denver and Lucille Jones, and dear friends and singing buddies Jerry McPhee and David McPhee.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Mt. Auburn Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, Indiana with Rev. Dennis Aud officiating.
