Game Report for Week 03/07: Basketball and Track and Field

Boys’ Basketball
Sectional 60 Champions
The Varsity Boys Basketball team recorded 3 wins last week to secure their 2nd consecutive Sectional 60 championship and they now advance to the Regional this Saturday at Seymour High School. The Jets defeated Rising Sun by a score of 72-24 in round 1 on Wednesday, they took care of Oldenburg in the semi-final 65-39 on Friday, and then claimed the sectional title with a 73-42 victory over the host Milan Indians on Saturday.

Stryker Gill was named Sectional 60 MVP for his 3 outstanding performances throughout the week. He also surpassed the 1,000-career point mark during Saturday’s championship game. Joining Stryker on the All-Tournament team for their performances were seniors Gavin Keller and Kameron Blair. The Jets received important contributions all week from Bill Miller and Joel Bechtel, as well as Waylon Harper, Braydon McFarland, and Tyler Deiwert each chipping in big minutes off the bench. The three victories were great examples of total team basketball and it led to dominant wins in the most important time of the year.

The Jets will now travel to Seymour on Saturday for a Regional matchup with a familiar conference opponent, the South Decatur Cougars. Tip time will be 1 p.m.

Track and Field
The varsity track and field team competed Saturday in Brownsburg High School's Individuals indoor meet.

Nolan Dailey took second in the 3200-meter run (9:44.02) and fourth in the 1600-meter run (4:38.35).

Addyson Russell took third place in the long jump with a mark of 15-6 and set a new personal best of 8.48 in the 60-meter dash.

Max Miller placed sixth in long jump 17-8.75, while also running 7.77 in the 60-meter dash and 1:02.19 in the 400-meter dash.
