Set against a backdrop of iconic red barn doors and Midwestern corn with a watchful crow perched atop, the Hee Haw Show made its return to the WILLow LeaVes stage Friday, March 6 amidst the applause of a welcoming crowd.
Back by popular demand, this year’s Hee Haw Show is all new and full of talent and humor worthy of any Gossip Girls inquiry.
Featuring nearly one dozen local actors, the two hour-long show – including intermission – was heavily influenced by nostalgia for the original television series that debuted June 15, 1969 and ran for more than 20 years, says Hee Haw Show writer, producer and director Naomi Fleetwood-Pyle.
“We’ve all kinds of characters with pitchforks and amongst all that is a ton of corny jokes,” Pyle says.
Raised watching the comedic variety show on Saturday nights, Pyle says this Hee Haw Show is her interpretation as a nod to comedic genius.
“It’s quite the variety,” she says.
And, yes, MC Pyle will be rapping.
Tickets are still available for this closing weekend’s performances, but they’re going fast.
