Yellow Trail Hosting Special Native American Artifact Exhibit

The Yellow Trail Museum and Visitor’s Center is currently hosting a special exhibit of Native American artifacts on loan from the Shoaf family.

The collection has been generously shared by John, Jack, and Jesse Shoaf. All the artifacts were found on Elise Shoaf’s farm, making this a unique local history exhibit you do not see every day. The collection includes arrow heads, spear points, lance points, drill points, grinding stones, grinding bowls, axes, scrapers, and ornamental pipes.

The artifacts are thought to be from the Shawnee Tribe who inhabited Indiana until around 1830. Westward expansion forced them west as well. The special exhibit will run through the museum’s closing in December. The museum is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., and from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. during the cruise- ins on the first Friday of the month this summer. Stop by and check it out!
