By Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home and Crematory

Betty J. Wallace, 88, of Hope, passed from this life at 9:58 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026 at Morning Breeze Retirement Community and Health Care Center in Greensburg.

Betty was born June 15, 1937, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas J. and Henrietta Hayden Wycoff.

Betty was a homemaker for much of her life. Being the proud mother of eight children, she spent much of her time taking care of the kids and keeping the family home in order. Her duties included everything from discipline to mending children’s injuries sustained while playing. This directly correlates to Betty either being the “warden” or the “field medic” of the family home, depending on the occasion.

Once the children were raised, Betty had the opportunity to enjoy puzzles, reading a good book and gardening. Occasionally, you could catch her dancing to a catchy beat, even in her later years. She always had time for a card game of Gin Rummy or Bingo. Betty will be deeply missed by those that knew her and love her.

Survivors include her children, Jeff (Pam) Wallace of Columbus, Greg (Carolyn) Wallace, Mike (Tracy) Wallace, Eric (Susan) Wallace, all of Hope, Kim (Dave) Dillahey, Kevin (Susan) Wallace, both of Columbus, Tim (Amanda) Wallace of Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Jenny Wallace, also of Hope; twenty grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steve Wallace; brothers, Keith Parks, David Jessup and sister, Doloris Simpson.

The funeral service for Betty will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Minister Lloyd Bloomfield officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. The funeral service may be live streamed Thursday at 1 p.m. at barkesweaverglick.com.
