It's a tale of modern love that asks the unknowable of the naive heart.
Life and love are a mystery that one young woman is attempting to solve using her mind over heart in the premier of "Proof" by David Auburn presented by the Passion for Acting Theatre Company beginning at 7 p.m. Friday on the stage at WILLow LeaVes of Hope, located at 326 Jackson St., in downtown Hope.
As caregiver to her aging and increasingly unstable father, Robert, Catherine's 25th birthday and current life circumstances coincide forcing her to confront much of life's challenges seemingly simultaneously.
Walking by her father's side on his end-of-life journey to his ultimate death, Catherine processes issues of mortality while managing the arrival of her controlling, estranged sister, Claire, and the untoward attentions of Hal, a young man on a quest for knowledge that he's convinced is contained somewhere in the numerous notebooks left behind by Catherine's late father.
In a sea of major life change, Catherine finds herself afloat confronting waves of emotion, anxiety, confusion and nearly paralyzing concern the only way she knows how --- using her analytical mind.
Most perplexing question of all, "How much of her father's madness -- or genius -- has she inherited, if any at all?"
Tickets for this theatre/dinner production are $40 per person and include dinner, dessert and show.
Dinner/theatre times are 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
