Dear Editor,
My name is Lisa Crane, and I’m running for County Council to represent District 1, which includes Hope (Hawcreek township), Clay, Clifty and Rock Creek Townships. I have lived in the same house in Hope for 40 years, and my husband and I raised our son and daughter here.
I’m running to improve the health and well-being of our community, and to protect the farmlands and green spaces of Eastern Bartholomew County.
I’ve been a nurse for over 40 years, graduating from Purdue with my bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1982, and with my master’s in nursing administration from the University of Indianapolis in 2008.
My nursing career has primarily been in community health. Most recently I served for five years as Director of Healthy Communities at Columbus Regional Health, retiring in 2025. In my leadership roles over the past 25 years, I have been responsible for hiring and supporting teams of professionals, and for managing large budgets.
Over the years I have volunteered for the March of Dimes, United Way, and other organizations. I currently serve on the Purdue School of Nursing advisory board, and am secretary of the board of the Community Center of Hope.
If elected, I pledge to use the skills I’ve developed over my career to responsibly use resources to improve the health, quality of life, and well-being of our diverse community. I intend to accomplish this by:
- Improving transparency in county government
- Wise use of resources to improve quality of life for everyone in our county
- Accountability to the taxpayers for decisions made by the Council
Early voting begins October 6, at Gather Columbus space on 25th St. This is the old Texas Roadhouse building. To check your voter registration, to request an absentee ballot, or get more information about who is on your ballot, go to Indiana Voters
