Don E. Golden, 89, of Hope, Indiana, passed from this life surrounded by family at his home on October 22, 2026. Don was born to Albert and Margaret Reed Golden in Hope, Indiana on January 22, 1937.

A man of deep faith, Don was a member of Hope Moravian Church for 57 years and later a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church for 32 years. He was very active in both church communities and served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, on various boards, and as an usher. His presence in church life reflected the importance he placed on service, fellowship, and living out his beliefs through action.

Don was also a proud 4-H and FFA member. He enjoyed playing golf, especially when he and Eloise wintered in Florida, and he was an enthusiastic supporter of IU basketball and other Indiana teams. He also had a special affection for his beagle, Lucy, who brought him much joy and companionship.

Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Don is survived by his wife Eloise E. Holder Golden; children, David Golden and Susanne (Ken) Embry; grandchildren, Alec Embry and Jarrett (Gabby) Embry.

Don is preceded in death by his parents.

Those who knew Don will remember him as a kind and dependable man with a warm heart and a quiet strength. His life touched many, and his memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tim Carter officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.

Don will be laid to rest at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.
